The Scofflaw

The Scofflaw

The Scofflaw

Born in Prohibition. Still breaking rules.

The Scofflaw was invented in 1924 at Harry's New York Bar in Paris — a cheeky nod to Americans flouting Prohibition back home. It's tart, a little sweet, and beautifully balanced. Our Quantum Cocktails Grenadine gives it that signature deep red colour and rich pomegranate sweetness.

What You'll Need

How to Make It

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker filled with ice.
  2. Shake vigorously for about 10 seconds.
  3. Strain into a chilled coupe or martini glass and serve immediately.

QC Tips

  • Rye whiskey is traditional and gives the drink a spicy backbone — but bourbon works if that's what you have on hand.
  • Dry vermouth is key here; sweet vermouth will throw off the balance entirely.
  • The orange bitters are small but mighty — don't skip them.

These recipes are a starting point, not a rulebook. Adjust the ratios, swap ingredients, and make it your own. Drink the drink you want to drink.
